Red 2
Starring: Bruce Willis, John Malkovich, Helen Mirren, Anthony Hopkins
Rating: PG-13
Run Time: 1 hr. 56 min.
The previous movie, Red, didn’t do too well at the box office, but had decent reviews. This series is about a retired CIA operative who reunites with some old friends and enemies in order to stop a nuclear device from being detonated. Nothing too complicated, but this film is supposed to offer a fun watch full of plot twists and witty jokes. Unlike the first movie, which surprisingly got good reviews at a 72% on Rotten Tomatoes, this movie so far has a whopping 32%. It seems that all the charm of the first movie has worn off and now it’s just awkward imagining Helen Mirren repeatedly taking down bad guys.

Starring: Jeff Bridges, Ryan Reynolds, Kevin Bacon
Rating: PG-13
Run Time: 1 hr. 36 min.
This comic book turned movie stars Ryan Reynolds and Jeff Bridges as two deceased cops that must protect the living from evil bloodthirsty ghosts. Meanwhile, Ryan Reynold’s is looking for his murderer. Unfortunately, this movie’s ticket sales until now have not been up to the standards set by Universal Pictures.
The plot for this movie seems interesting, and the trailer hooked me in with some great acting from Jeff Bridges. This film seems like it’s going to be a fun summer movie, but nothing groundbreaking. If you’re bored on a Friday night and want a fun, yet different sort of action movie, I would definitely watch this. If it weren’t for the big names like Bridges and Reynold’s, I’m not sure this movie would be as interesting.

Starring: Ryan Reynolds, Paul Giamatti, Samuel L. Jackson, Maya Rudolph
Rating: PG
Run Time: 1 hr. 36 min.
This amazingly cute looking movie features a snail that gets his dream come true after a freak accident; he gets to compete in the Indie 500. This movie also features Ryan Reynold’s as the main character, Turbo. So far this box office weekend seems to be featuring a lot of repeats. Ryan Reynold’s is competing against himself in both R.I.P.D. and this animation feature.
Turbo is supposed to be a fun animated kids movie for the summer. My favorite part about this movie is the stills. The colors and animation involved look absolutely stunning. The varying shades and uses of color, especially the focus on lights, make me think this movie would be stunning in 3D.
