Ten Gifts Every Theater Buff Needs
Katie Zepf ‘17 / Emertainment Monthly Staff Writer
The holidays are quickly approaching – hooray! While there is an abundance of joy and love in the holiday season, there are also some worries. This time of year requires the purchase of gifts for loved ones. Buying gifts can be an incredibly stressful process. There’s always the worry of how much money can be spent on this person, whether or not the person will like it, and what to do for the people who should receive something a bit more personal than the generic candle or lotion set. Although some hobbies, like sports or shopping, lend themselves to more obvious gifts, others are more tricky. Theater is one of the more tough interests to think of creative gifts for. Luckily, the following is a list of fun and creative gifts to get those theater obsessed people everyone knows and loves.
10. Shakespeare Insult Generator
This book is so important and anyone who doesn’t think so is a cuckoldly dull-brained hornbeast. Seriously, it is hysterical and perfect for any Shakespeare fan out there. Note that it provides the definitions so the owner knows what is being said, even if nobody else does.
9. Sterling Silver Drama Necklace
What girl doesn’t want a nice piece of jewelry to represent her passions? None. It also does double duty as a fun statement piece and a personal touch on an outfit, so bravo.
8. Playbill Iphone Case
Nothing subtly screams “I love Broadway” more than having every popular show displayed on the back of a phone. Any theater lover who can’t pick just one favorite would appreciate this so much. Bonus points for those non-theater people who can name all these plays.
7. I Can’t I have Rehearsal Travel Mug
Nothing is more accurate than this. Signing up for a cast is signing away one’s life – but it’s worth it.
6. Cast Party Liquor Bag
Finally, no more awkwardly ringing the doorbell of someone’s house with arms full of bottles while the neighbors look on suspiciously. Carry the party booze proudly, in a manner that is both effective and lets everyone else know when the party’s MVP rolls in.
5. May Spontaneously Burst Into Song T-Shirt
And it will probably be a show tune. Friends, family, and roommates – consider yourselves warned.
4. Keep Calm and Act On Flask Necklace
A necklace that is organized, efficient, and a reminder of the motto of the stage. The show must always go on. Just like the party and the refills.
3. The Broadway Musical Quiz Book
There’s nothing like some good old-fashioned competition between theater buffs! It’s a trivia game that everyone in the family can play, and one that will leave the players a bit more knowledgeable than when they first started. The answers include not only answers to the questions, but also further information and fun facts about the shows, actors, etc.
2. Throat Coat
This silky smooth herbal tea helps users “sing it loud, say it proud, stand up and be heard.” If that isn’t essential for any actor, there isn’t much that is. That nasty cold can’t stop the belting of show tunes.
1. Tickets
Of course, there’s nothing better than tickets for anyone who loves theater. Whether it’s a local performance or a spectacular Broadway production, anyone who appreciates the performing arts will be thrilled at getting a pair of tickets. A show is about more than just the entertainment. It is an experience, a memory, and a love that will forever stay with a person, and that is the best gift anyone could ever receive.
Happy Holidays to all the theater buffs out there, and to all the people who love them!
