For baseball fans everywhere looking for the perfect video game to encapsulate their favorite sport, look no further than MLB 15: The Show. Released on March 31 and available exclusively on PlayStation consoles, the game covers all of the bases for what a baseball fan needs in a game.
The game starts off with a goosebump-inducing opening montage, getting the player instantly engaged and ready to dive into the action. The game launches right into the main menu, easily organized to show the wide variety of game modes The Show has to offer. With the return of fan-favorite modes such as the ‘Road to the Show’ and the classic ‘Franchise’ mode, the game gives the fans everything they’ve been accustomed to over the years, and will provide endless gameplay to those willing to put in the hours. The game also returns a revamped version of the ‘Diamond Dynasty’ mode, which is the equivalent to EA’s Ultimate Team in their Madden, NHL, and FIFA games, and NBA 2K’s MyTeam mode. The mode allows the player to collect player cards and create a fantasy team to compete against other players online, and adds a whole different dimension to the already-diverse game. All of the game’s different modes are sure to keep you busy and playing the game consistently through the long baseball season.
As far as actual gameplay, the graphics and flow of the game have never been better than this year’s installment. The game’s overall presentation is completely reminiscent of a real-life game that you would see on television, and the ballparks and players truly come to life for those playing. There truly is the feeling that the player is in such historic ballparks as Fenway Park and Wrigley Field, while sitting on the couch playing a videogame on their PlayStation. Even when transitioning from the PlayStation 4 to the PlayStation 3, the graphics are still incredible, and the player never gets tired of all of the sights and sounds of the game. The mechanics may take a little while for newcomers to get used to, but after the first or second game, everything gets easier and true enjoyment begins.
This game is a must-have for any sports fan with a PlayStation console, and could even be a solid reason for a sports fan to buy a new console. The game is everything it is hyped up to be and more, so step on the field and enjoy MLB 15: The Show.
