Marvel and Netflix are teaming up. Four live-action Marvel series will debut on Netflix, followed by a mini-series event. This programming will begin in 2015 and span over multiple years.
The premiere series will focus on Daredevil, followed by Jessica Jones, Iron Fist and Luke Cage. It will culminate with a mini-series that will bring together The Defenders for the first time on screen.
Marvel is taking huge strides towards expanding their market. Along with the premiere season of their first-ever live-action television series, Marvel has announced plans for half a dozen superhero movies to be released within the next few years. They are now expanding to include on-demand subscription services. This puts them in the front and center of nearly every type of media and miles ahead of their rival, DC Comics.
This further builds the partnership between Netflix and Marvel’s parent company, The Walt Disney Company. They previously penned a movie distribution deal that will bring all of Disney’s movies to Netflix in 2016.
