Revealed, the eleventh novel in the House of Night series, continues the story of Zoey Redbird and her vampyre friends. The book starts with a bang, killing off an original member of Zoey’s circle and falls flat from there. The gang must take on not only Neferet and her evil, but also the Tulsa PD who are investigating the death of a high ranking public official who also happens to be the parent of one of the main characters.
This book has some alright characterization. Even after eleven books, the authors are still managing to peel away at these characters (which is helpful in some cases, and just not needed in others), and make us really see who they are and feel their emotions. The way the characters are switched up is really great, because we can see more of how the other characters are dealing with things, and how they are seeing the world, and it’s not just how Zoey feels. Also the fact that we see Neferet, and are learning more about her life and her motivations is a nice touch, even though it’s not enough to move us. An interesting development is how Zoey and Aurox are opening up to each other which needs to happen because Aurox’s soul belongs to the deceased love of Zoey’s life.
With all that being said, this book just drags. For it being 237 pages, it seemed to just take forever to finish. For such a short book (especially compared to past novels in the series) the pacing was all wrong. At one point, I found myself wondering if it was ever going to end. The action wasn’t there as it was in past books, and at this point some of the characters have gotten annoying. As a fan of the series, I would recommend this book only to people who are already invested in the series, only because this book has some sort of lead in to the next (and possibly final) book.
All in all, Revealed wasn’t that great of a book, but it wasn’t bad. The authors could’ve given us something more though.

Well, your review just made me smile. I agree with almost everything, for me though it wasn’t dragging, but I guess it’s because I read everything so fast that I don’t have time to be bored. Destined was one of the most amazing books, then Hidden did well preparing the territory for the end, I just didn’t imagine that Revealed would be anything like this. I liked it, yes, but it seems that the real action was pushed to the next book. There were alot of great things about this book (I’d say Aphrodite, but she’s always the best part) such as Kalona’s chapters. I find myself intrigued by his story and his brother, Erebus.
Only hope that the next book finish things. Time to wrap it up.
