The Return of Lizzie Bennet

The Internet has quietly mourned for the past year or so since the release of the 100th and final episode of The Lizzie Bennet Diaries, Bernie Su and vlogbrother Hank Green’s modern-day take on Pride and Prejudice for the digital world. The web series focused on grad student Lizzie Bennet and her struggles with family, friends, and love, the characters all gorgeously echoing their Austen counterparts.
Recently, however, a book was announced: The Secret Diary of Lizzie Bennet. Meant to be written by the protagonist throughout the course of the web series, it is said, according to Pemberley Digital (the channel that hosted LBD and the new series Welcome to Sandition and Emma Approved), to “provide more character introspection as only a book can, with revelatory details about the Bennet household, including Lizzie’s special relationship with her father, untold stories from Netherfield, Lizzie’s thoughts and fears about life after grad school and becoming an instant web celebrity.”
The cover was just released via Pemberly Digital and has caused a resurgence of interest from fans in anticipation of the book. Hopefully the book will give readers a more in-depth look into the world of Lizzie Bennet and allow them to get inside her head throughout the story.
The Secret Diary of Lizzie Bennet by Bernie Su and Kate Rorick is set to be released July 2014 from Simon and Schuster publishing.
