Zack Snyder to Helm "Justice League": What Does this Mean for the DC Universe?

George Huertas ‘16 / Emertainment Monthly Staff Writer
Boy, Warner Bros./DC must have a lot of confidence in Batman vs. Superman. Firstly, they decide to preemptively challenge Marvel’s traditional May opening by pitting their Man of Steel sequel against Captain America 3. Now, it seems like they are doubling down on director Zack Snyder’s involvement, putting him in the director’s chair for the third film in the DC Cinematic Universe canon, Justice League.
According to The Hollywood Reporter’s Borys Kyt, previous rumors of Batman vs. Superman and Justice League shooting back to back are seemingly confirmed, with the studio aiming for a 2017 release date.
While the film Man of Steel was no stranger to controversy among comic book fans, many were pleased despite the film’s imperfections.
This new film, however, with the casting of Ben Affleck as Bruce Wayne/Batman and Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, has been a lightning rod of controversy, even before an official picture of Affleck’s Batsuit has debuted!
Clearly, though, hiring Snyder has been an act of faith on DC’s part; otherwise, they would have probably booted him off after Man of Steel.
However, regardless of quality, the new Man of Steel sequel will be a must-see. It will be interesting to assess the final product and see how ready DC is to expand its universe.
