SDCC 2015: Teen Wolf's Tyler Posey Hints at Big Episode Coming Up

Michael Moccio ’16 / Emertainment Monthly Editor-in-Chief
Currently one of the hottest shows on television right now, Teen Wolf came out to San Diego Comic Con (SDCC) in storm. Fans who went to the panel were treated to a special look at the upcoming story as the Dread Doctors continue their horrific trek through Beacon Hills. Emertainment got a chance to sit down with Tyler Posey during the Teen Wolf Press Room at SDCC.
One of the most poignant scenes so far in the series was between Scott (Tyler Posey) and Stiles (Dylan O’Brien). In the scene, Stiles has reached a breaking point as his suspicions about the new character Theo come to boil; when confronted about it, the two butt heads as Stiles angrily exclaims that Scott’s too trusting to he has to be the one feeling suspicious. “It was really cool,” Posey said of filming the scene.
“Dylan and I really appreciate those kinds of scenes, because it’s really the epitome of acting for me,” Posey said. The two are known for their chemistry off set as they became great friend. “Dylan and I love each other and we’re really good friends. So it’s fun having those tension moments with Dylan and I think he would say the same.”
Despite being close to his co-star, Posey was able to deliver quite the emotional impact with his acting. “We’re completely stepping out of who we are and putting ourselves into a situation we’d never really be in. It really tests us.” Since the cast, specifically Posey and O’Brien, have worked together closely since the beginning, it’s impressive to see them still delivering different nuances of their characters five seasons in. Shows like Teen Wolf can get slammed for being to genre-focused, but it’s the actors like Posey who keep the show character-driven as the focus on their development.
Because Theo was such a driving force in that scene, the conversation turned to the impact Theo will have on Scott’s relationship with the other members of his pack, specifically Kira. Their relationship seems strong enough from the first few episodes, but after watching the teaser for the rest of the season, that interpretation might not hold up. Still, Posey assured us that “No one’s breaking them up. Hopefully [Theo] doesn’t change my relationship with Kira. I love my girl! I don’t feel threatened by him. There are some moments… Theo’s got a plan and that’s all I’m going to say.”
Posey was very tight-lipped on the details of the upcoming episodes. The one bit he did reveal was that there’s a great scene he can’t wait for fans to see. “It’s either episode eight or nine. Something happens in episode five that sets up this thing for eight or nine—I can’t remember which one it is, but it’s huge.” Luckily, showrunner Jeff Davis was a little more descriptive. You can find his elaborations here on the site as well.
Before wrapping up, Posey looked back at who his favorite “big bad” of the series has been so far. Though the Dread Doctors take that spot for the current season, Posey said, “I’d say Peter, the original Alpha, the one who turned him. Scott was just a human kid then and couldn’t defend himself at all. So that was probably the scariest moment for Scott.” We’ve come a long way since Season 1, but it’s clear that those pivotal first moments are still important even during Season 5.
