WORLD STOP: Beyoncé may be the newest star, and first Queen to join Marvel’s cinematic universe. Reported by comicbookresources.com, one of Disney’s senior executives has been quoted to say: “We would love to have Beyoncé on board, almost certainly as a newcomer to the screen from Marvel’s existing catalogue of comic book characters.” To all of the people who are well aware that Beyoncé is one of the most influential, successful, and powerful women in the world today, her playing the role of a superhero is not much of a surprise. If this is a surprise to you, then here are some fun facts about Beyoncé: In the span of two years, she gave birth to the royal baby Blue Ivy Carter, went on two tours one after the other, dropped a multi-platinum visual album (with no publicity), AND she became a vegan. Wonder Woman, is that you?

Even if you aren’t a fan of her music, there’s no way anyone could deny the prowess and fierceness of Beyoncé Knowles-Carter, two traits that every super heroine possesses. Here are 10 roles from DC and Marvel comics that would be perfect for her majesty:

  1. Catwoman

    Catwoman_0007

Known for tugging on the heartstrings of Batman, and outsmarting him time and time again, Catwoman is one of the most famous comic book characters of all time. An infamous anti-heroine, seeing Beyoncé act as this morally ambiguous character would be refreshing and exciting. Is she going to side with the good guys, or the villains? Who cares! She’s Catwoman. Selina Kyle is a woman who is not ashamed of her sexuality, and constantly uses her intelligence to get exactly what she wants, a thing that Beyoncé could definitely relate too.

  1. Hawkgirl 1253690-hawkgirl_19

This mace-wielding heroine was one of the first female super heroes, but people who were not born in time to witness the Golden Age of DC comics will recognize her from the animated series Justice League and Justice League Unlimited. Beyoncé would have no problem summoning her alter ego Sasha Fierce, for this role. Bey has described her alter ego to be “aggressive, strong, sassy [and] sexy”. Sounds a lot like Hawkgirl, who is always prepared to knock some sense into every villain she faces. Hawkgirl is also one of the founding members of the Justice League, Beyoncé is one of the founding members of the streaming service Tidal. Coincidence? Don’t think so.

  1. Mera

Mera, like Beyoncé, is a Queen who proves time and time again that she is more than someone’s wife. Even though the Queen of Atlantis’ early comic appearances always featured her being kidnapped and saved by Aquaman, she showed that she was a force to be reckoned with when she became a member of the Justice League, and deputy of the Red Lantern Corps in The Blackest Night and Brightest Day comics. Putting Beyoncé, a modern day feminist, in this role would encourage writers to continue portraying a Mera who doesn’t need Aquaman to save her constantly. And just like how Beyoncé can stop the world by dropping an album on iTunes, Mera can literally stop the world by taking control of its oceans, without a man’s help (sorry Jay Z).

  1. Wonder Woman

Yes, Gal Gadot has already been cast as Wonder Woman in the upcoming Batman vs Superman film, but we can all dream a little. Queen Bey would have no problem getting into character as this heroine, since she is hands-down our generation’s real-life Wonder Woman. Wonder Woman’s ideals of refusing to let a male-dominated society affect her power or freedom remain the core of her character, just as feminism had become the core of Beyoncé’s music on her latest album, and her life. They both break the mold of the traditional roles of women (could either of them be called a simple housewife?), and are never afraid to take charge. Even though Beyoncé may only be a warrior on the music charts and the stage, Wonder Woman is a warrior princess from Themyscira, a matriarchal society. They would both agree that girls do, in fact, run the world.

  1. Vixen

A superhuman supermodel, Vixen has been slaying the fashion game and anyone who crosses her path. Beyoncé will be able to kill the fashion game in and out of character (Beyhive rejoice!). Known to succumb to the ferociousness of certain animals she channels, Vixen has also had to side with DC’s Suicide Squad, made up of villains and anti-heroes. Even though Vixen was created in 1961, she still has not been given her own full-length comic series. Beyoncé has experience in leaving groups to become the true star that she is, and could easily adapt that experience to Vixen. If we can’t see her fighting for good, maybe the Zambesi  native can make an appearance in the Suicide Squad sequel (too soon?). Even though she is receiving an animated series, Vixen’s chance to show her powers on the big screen is long overdue, and Beyoncé has the influence and starpower to finally help Vixen receive her time to shine.

  1. Dazzler

Even though Beyoncé already has a voice that will make you see the light, she would be able to take it a step further as Dazzler. Capable of creating holograms and blinding her foes, Dazzler was a cross-promotional creation between Casablanca Records and Marvel Comics. This made music a significant role in Dazzler’s comic series and background, so there is no doubt it would be a main element if she were to be brought to life on the big screen. Due to her superior vocal abilities, there is no doubt Beyoncé would be able to succeed at portraying this heroine. Who wouldn’t want to see Yoncé annihilating her foes while singing in a falsetto? Give the people what they want, Marvel. A kick-ass super heroine who can shoot energy beams, and out-sing every superhero out there.

  1. She-Hulk

She-Hulk is capable of putting you in the hospital and taking you to court without even trying. A lawyer for humans and super heroes alike, She-Hulk still has not been given the spotlight she deserves, even though she has been in the Marvel Universe since the 1980s. After receiving the blood transfusion that gave her superhuman powers, Jennifer Walters underwent a mental and physical change that gave her a new sense of assertiveness and confidence. The actress that brings one of the strongest superheroes to life needs to be able to capture her undeniable confidence, and Queen Bey could definitely do so without even lifting a finger. Again, with Beyoncé’s star power and influence, she can show the world that the Hulk isn’t the only green powerhouse in the Marvel Universe.

  1. Captain Marvel

Formally known as Ms.Marvel, Carol Danvers will be making her Marvel Cinematic Universe debut in 2018. Casting choices have not been determined yet, but the fact that Beyoncé has recently been in talks with Disney executives seems pretty convenient. Similar to Queen Bey, Carol is a natural leader, who is tough and focused. Being one of the Avenger’s mightiest heroes for over 40 years, her solo big screen debut should have happened sooner. Everyone knows how Beyoncé’s choice of leaving Destiny’s Child and going solo played out, the same success should await the most powerful hero in the Marvel Universe.

  1. Jean Grey (Phoenix)

Today’s Queen of Music would be a perfect match for the most powerful member of the X-Men: Jean Grey. Jean was a founding member of the team of mutants, and first joined as Marvel Girl. However, her power would soon outgrow that title, and she became Phoenix. Sounds very similar to how Beyoncé outgrew the title of “lowkey and obviously lead singer of Destiny’s Child”, and became “the reason why there is a Destiny’s Child”. However, with her great power, came disaster, and it is still unknown if Jean Grey will rise again in the X-Men movies. But even picturing Beyoncé rising from a great inferno and ready to destroy the world should be able to convince Marvel executives that they know exactly who will be playing Jean Grey in a reboot of the X-Men.

  1. Poison Ivy (Not a Superhero, but very worthy of a portrayal by The Queen Bey)

Beyoncé is known to be vocal about causes she is passionate about, and that same passion can be accelerated to revive the extreme environmentalist, Poison Ivy. The accident that gave her the power to control plant life and exude poisonous toxins also drove her insane, so she definitely doesn’t go about saving the earth in a peace, love kind of way. Her genius-level intellect has made it possible for her to not only wreak havoc in Gotham, but also cause trouble for the entire Justice League. Beyoncé slays the lives of millions every day, and  she can definitely change that into literally slaying her foes, until Batman tries to stop her. Poison Ivy is also similar to Beyoncé in the fact that she doesn’t hesitate to get what she wants, just in more ferocious and devious ways.

Even though it would be amazing to see her as these ten comic book heros (and sometimes villains), Beyoncé will be able to slay any role she receives. She is called Queen for a reason!
