Ah, Fall: a time for scarves, chunky knits from your grandparents’ archival closets, and the ever-changing colors of the leaves outside your door.  STOP.  How could we forget!  ‘Tis also the season for every ugg-wearing, starbucks-gold star-member to cash in on those points and get the drink of the season, neh, the year: The Pumpkin Spice Latte.  With all of you in mind, and considering the ever-falling thermometer outside, I’ve compiled a list of what I believe to be the best films to watch while you bask in the glory of your autumnal brew. I present to you: Post’s October Picks for the PSL-Patron
1.) Good Will Hunting
Well, this one was a bit of a given, wasn’t it?  We have Mr. Damon playing a janitor at M.I.T. (our neighbor to the…west?), with picturesque scenes of Boston in the throes of its leaf-color-changing glory.  What more could one ask for to really get in the fall mood? Oh yeah – a PSL.

Thought we’d change things up here a little and go literal.  Here we have a documentary taking a look back at the proclaimed “hot coffee lawsuit”.  You can watch this one and count your lucky stars that the PSL in your hands is at the perfect sipping temperature.  Bless those ‘bucks gods.

Continuing with our literal trend – this movie really has nothing to do with fall, BUT – hold those fingers, keyboard trolls! – you can watch this tale of drinking buddies while you’re with YOUR drinking buddies!  Drinking PSL’s! Yes? You get my point.

In light of recent political events, I thought I’d include in this list a film that satirizes the whole “election” process the same way that our current presidential hopefuls are.  This film stars Reese as an over-achieving, commanding high school president hopeful, whose obsession for the office is not unlike that of another blonde running for office in 2016.  No, I’m not talking about Hillary. Did you figure it out?  Good job – now reward yourself with a sip of that PSL, won’t you?

Fall not only brings the return of your favorite drink – it’s college football season, my friends.  Though I am not a supporter of Notre Dame (#michigan4eva), this film is a harrowing tale of, you guessed it, Rudy – who knows he wants to play football for the Fighting Irish, and never gives up on that dream.  What’s that?  No, I’m not crying.  *turns head and sips PSL*

Okay, I may be aiming a little below the juicy couture belt here, but it’s no secret that PSL’s are a staple in many a greek-life members diet.  Keeping that in mind, I think you all will appreciate this flick, as it also plays into a popular genre of this month: Horror.  Make sure you don’t spill that PSL while you watch anxiously as the Theta Pi sisters try to solve the accidental death of one of their own.

We all knew this list couldn’t go without a classic horror film, and indeed, our very own editors favorite film “Halloween”.  Yet, when I looked for the legendary film, it was not to be found on our beloved Netflix’s platform.  Unfortunately, we will have to settle with the sixth installment of the story of the crazed serial killer.  Bonus: baby Paul Rudd!  One look of his might just melt that PSL cup you’ve got there.
[embedyt] http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rAaPBxBxaV8[/embedyt] 8.) The Graduate
As many of us are soon to be, this film focuses on a recent college graduate, unsure of what to do after his departure from school.  Sound familiar?  Many a scene is dotted with beautiful shots of fall scenery, fantastic vintage fall attire, and oh yeah – a middle-aged neighbor seducing young Dustin Hoffman in one of his milestone movie performances.  If you get uncomfortable, feel free to shield your eyes with that PSL cup, nobody will judge.
[embedyt] http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hsdvhJTqLak[/embedyt] 9.) Jodi Picoult’s Salem Falls
This list simply could not be complete without a Lifetime Original Movie – we all knew this.  Netflix must have known this too, as this tale of a man hoping for a fresh start – and subsequently becoming the target of a witch hunt – makes one want to dash off to Salem right away.  And for all you Dawson’s Creek fans out there, you’re in luck!  We get a little James Van Der Beek action with this one.  Sip that PSL and remember the simpler days of petty teen drama, without all that witchcraft.

Diehard Red Sox fans, I hope I’m not rubbing salt in this year’s wounds.  If so, you’ve been warned – this documentary relives the end of the Boston baseball teams’ struggle against the New York Yankees.  A legendary championship series that, alas, is not to be this time around.  For those wondering what on earth I’m talking about, the Sox didn’t qualify for the American League Championship Series this year – don’t feel bad, I had no idea either.  Just make sure you don’t throw your PSL at the TV screen, it didn’t do anything to you.
