Battlefield 4 was heavily marketed for its innovative multiplayer system. DICE promised gamers 10 large-scale maps that support 64 players (on next generation consoles and PC) with special modes that immerse players in cooperative play. However Battlefield 4 has fallen quite shy from this promise, disappointing players across platforms.

Since its release gamers have experienced connectivity issues, loss of data, and problems moving between various consoles. There have been some reports of lawsuits filled against DICE. The EA gaming company has been struggling to address these issues and have recently released a patch for the PC and both PlayStation consoles, but people still seem less than satisfied. DICE’s constant attention to these problems though means they have the chance of being fixed. It is nice to see a developer so devoted to its gamers. Yet this problem could have been avoided with a little forethought and better beta testing. As a result Battlefield 4’s multiplayer has taken a huge hit in its reputation that a couple patches will probably not fix.

Battlefield 4 is out now for PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and Microsoft Windows.
