HBO Announces Final Season of True Blood

The groundbreaking HBO series True Blood has announced that the show will come to an end after it’s seventh season on the network.
True Blood lost showrunner Alan Ball before the sixth season and was replaced by writer and producer Brian Buckner. Even without the show’s founder, the HBO favorite still managed to draw in 4.5 million viewers.

“True Blood has been nothing short of a defining show for HBO,” HBO Programming president Michael Lombardo said in a statement released by HBO on Tuesday. “Together with its legions of fans, it will be hard to say goodbye to the residents of Bon Temps, but I look forward to what promises to be a fantastic final chapter of this incredible show.”

The sixth season ended with the destruction of the “vampire camp,” hepatitis V infected vampires beginning an attack on Bon Temp, and even the possible death of one of the show’s major characters Eric Northman (Alexandar Skarsgard)
The final season will air 10 episodes starting summer of 2014.
