Box Office Roundup (12/13-12/15)
Maria Millage ’17/ Emertainment Monthly Staff Writer
The box office results from this weekend should hardly be surprising to anyone with Peter Jackson’s second Hobbit film stealing the show from previous frontrunner Frozen. It likely will maintain the top spot in the weeks to come, persevering through the onslaught of movies that are always released on or around Christmas. Tyler Perry’s new film earned itself the third spot on its opening weekend, likely because of the hype that surrounds the release of one of his movies. It earned enough to rank higher than both The Hunger Games: Catching Fire and Thor: The Dark World, which are both clearly coming to the end of their run as box office toppers. They both will likely be knocked out of the running entirely for the highly-anticipated films that will be released this weekend: Anchroman 2, American Hustle, Saving Mr. Banks, and the CGI masterpiece Walking with Dinosaurs.
