Tony Award-winning singer/actress Idina Menzel is set to perform the Oscar-nominated song “Let It Go” from the hit Disney film Frozen live at the 86th Annual Academy Awards.
The news broke early Tuesday morning when Menzel tweeted, “It’s really happening. I’m singing on the Oscars! Surreal. Thank u frozen family and Oscar producers for this incredible opportunity.”
This announcement came two days after the cast of Frozen (sans Jonathan Groff) reunited for “A Celebration of the Music of Frozen,” where the cast performed all of their songs from the film live.
The Frozen star is not the only singer set to perform at the Oscars as it was announced earlier that Pharrell Williams will also perform his Oscar nominated song “Happy” from Despicable Me 2 live on Oscar night.
Menzel is currently in tech rehearsal for her new Broadway musical If/Then, which begins previews on March 5 at the Richard Rodgers Theater.
The 86th Annual Academy Awards ceremony will air live from The Dolby Theater in Hollywood on March 2 at 7pm on ABC.
