Valentine’s Day may be over, but you can always still use a nice date movie in your life. Here’s Emertainment Monthly‘s list of the 5 best date movies to watch.

1. 50 First Dates

An oldie, but a goodie. This movie isn’t just appropriate because the title has the word “date” in it; rather, it’s on this list because it has Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore. Sandler’s performance is hilarious and is a great way to end your date night on a high note. Drew Barrymore does exceptionally well, too. While the plot of the movie demands a lot of attention, the producers are masters at making this the ultimate “dramedy”. Although it’s mostly a comedy, Drew Barrymore’s character’s situation is not funny. In the movie, Lucy suffers from short-term memory loss due to a car accident and now can only remember experiences and people from the accident. But this doesn’t stop Henry (Sandler) from falling for her even though she has to re-learn who he is every day. Also, let’s not forget Rob Schneider as Sandler’s goofy best friend with a glass eye, dreadlocks, and humorous jokes.  As the movie unfolds, a beautiful story emerges that cannot be forgotten nor overlooked. For those who haven’t seen this movie, see it.

2. The Great Gatsby

This movie, based on Fitzgerald’s classic, is one-of-a-kind. Although this is not the original movie made back in 1974 with Mia Farrow, it’s still reminiscent to the classic. The plot revolves around a war veteran who is mesmerized and fascinated by his neighbor, Jay Gatsby’s, net worth and life story. The director, Baz Luhrmann, successfully exaggerates the setting, demanding comments from viewers. Each time you watch it with an audience, it’s inevitable that someone will make a comment when the house is first seen, or at one of the lavish, over-the-top parties. While the size of the house is unrealistically massive, it still leaves a lasting effect on you. But enough about the scenery… How about Leonardo DiCaprio starring as Gatsby himself? Watching this movie on a date night will cause girls to fall in love, and make guys wish that they were him. You have to admit that he is the ultimate “womanizer”.

3. Clueless

No, this is not just a movie for girls! Although the three main characters are female, guys also play big roles in this ‘90s comedy. This is a movie that you will not want to miss. Alicia Silverstone steals the show playing the typical, spoiled California blonde, but she doesn’t let her posh lifestyle get to her. Her character is admirable because she’s respected by her peers without disrespecting herself and other people. Throughout the movie, Cher (Silverstone) is seen applying her charismatic traits to life by playing matchmaker for Tai (Brittany Murphy) while trying to simultaneously find her own significant other. Throughout the movie, Cher discovers who she really is through trial and error, and audiences get to see these hilarious stunts throughout the whole film. Her ignorant comments force you to laugh, but her wise suggestions make you wish you had a friend like her.

4. Hitch

If you’re trying to find the male version of Cher from Clueless, he’s found in Will Smith’s Hitch. Throughout the movie, Hitch attempts to teach his buddy the slick moves necessary for reeling in a woman. Guys would probably appreciate this movie mostly for the useful dating tips. The best scenes consist of Hitch correcting Albert’s (Kevin James) lame pick-up moves. In the movie, Hitch gets to see if his philosophy works for himself when he meets Sara (Eva Mendes), a very attractive woman. This is a romantic-comedy that should be watched on a night in with your love interest to get a good laugh out of you both.

5. How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days

If you are of the mind of “the cheesier the better,” this movie is one for you. In this film, as the title suggests, women learn how to get rid of a guy in ten days, and men will learn something, too. The male audience learns that they should not put up with crazy, obsessed and demanding women like Kate Hudson’s Andie. The jokes that Andie plays are so ridiculously hilarious that they definitely deserve a round of laughter. But underneath all the humor, can real love emerge? You’re just going to have to watch the movie to see for yourself.
