British producer Jon Hopkins is bringing his hauntingly mesmerizing beats back to Boston this weekend for what is sure to be a striking live performance. In a genre where fast beats and heavy drops run rampant, Hopkins has taken electronic music to a completely new level. In his world, ambiance is king and rhythms cascade rather than assault. There is a certain artistry to Hopkins’ productions – one that is impossible to pin down precisely but even harder to ignore. It’s as though he’s found the perfect balance between brooding electronic music and resplendent symphonic orchestrations.

There’s no doubt that Hopkins’ electronic mastery translates to his live show as well. Not one to waste time with superfluous interactions, the producer tends to keep quiet behind his impressively intricate setup, letting the music and mixing do all of the talking.
