Rockstar has announced that the next-gen port of their critically acclaimed sequel Grand Theft Auto V will be arriving on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on November 18th, and on the PC on January 27th. Debuting on the PS3 and Xbox 360 last September, this new edition serves to incorporate new features and improvements into the already impressive package.
In addition to the expected visual and technical upgrades, such as “increased draw distance and resolution,” the ports will feature “new weapons, vehicles and activities; additional wildlife; denser traffic; new foliage system, enhanced damage and weather effects, and much more,” expanding the game for players both old and new. New radio selections for the port also add “100s of new songs and DJ mixes.”

In addition, all players who pre-order the port will receive one million dollars in-game cash, half for single player, half for GTA Online. Also, players who played the game previously on either the PS3 or Xbox 360 will receive access to “rare versions of classic vehicles to collect from across the Grand Theft Auto series such as the Dukes, the Dodo Seaplane and a faster, more maneuverable Blimp; activities including wildlife photography and new shooting range challenges, new weapons and more.”
GTA Online is now increased to 30 players on the next gen consoles, with “all existing gameplay upgrades and Rockstar-created content released since the launch” available with much more to come. Existing players will also be able to transfer their current characters and progression to the port of their choice.

Overall Rockstar stands poised “to make Los Santos and Blaine County more immersive than ever,” with this eagerly anticipated port. November has become a crowded month indeed, with Dragon Age: Inquisition and Far Cry 4 also coming out the same day, and Halo: The Master Chief Collection and Assassin’s Creed Unity coming out the week before.Perhaps this is the consequence of the new, current generation just starting: all the AAA titles coming out at the same time a year down the line. Delays are a part of the industry, and it will be interesting to see if the November schedule seen now remains the same.
Regardless, this anticipated port of GTA V is now tangible and looks to be taking advantage of the new hardware to deliver an even more desirable package. Look for a return trip or a first time visit to Los Santos in the coming months.
