Ever looking for a bookstore and café in the great city of Boston? Trident Booksellers and Café is the place for you! Located at 338 Newbury Street, Trident is celebrating their 30th anniversary since opening in 1984. As many people enjoy reading a good book while drinking a cup of coffee, owners Bernie and Gail Flynn realized they needed to open a bookstore and a café. They have been providing the good people of Boston’s Back Bay with a relaxing place to browse a wide collection of books, while sitting down for a nice breakfast, lunch, or dinner. With two floors of books to look through, anyone at any age will be able to find something to read. In addition, Trident also sells cute and funny stationary, like greeting cards and notebooks, amongst other small gifts and knick-knacks. Trident is open daily from 8am to midnight, accommodating both morning birds and night owls.
Breakfast at Trident can range from eggs, which can be arranged any way, to a breakfast burrito, and even to a “Truck Stop Special” consisting of one pancake, home fries, sausage, and two eggs any style. Other breakfast options are English muffins, homemade muffins, toast (sourdough, white, wheat, rye), pancakes, and even a toasted bagel with cream cheese. Lunch options include French onion soup, caprese salad, and Trident’s signature salad consisting of dried cranberries, mandarin orange, almonds, and gorgonzola cheese. Trident also serves a wide variety of beverages including tea, coffee, and hot chocolate. Other unexpected drinks this independent bookstore and café serves is a selection of beers and wines. Their menu consists of many more food and drink options, and they are definitely worth checking out.
Another unique quality of Trident is their ability to host parties. Trident is able to accommodate parties of 20 to 70 people seated, but over 100 people standing. Many people choose to host birthday and graduation parties here, but Trident can also accommodate wedding brunches and rehearsal dinners. Families are able to pick buffet, passed hors d’oeuvres, or family-style meals for their party. Trident is also willing to serve and host breakfast, lunch, or dinner for these parties.
Trident hosts various events weekly at their store. Every Wednesday they have “Paint Nite” where people can come in and paint wine glasses and coffee mugs. They also host a “Trivia” every Friday where teams of six people can compete to win a $35 gift card to Trident. Other events include readings from authors, book launches, and even a cooking demo from authors of cookbooks. To keep up with Trident’s busy schedule, people can sign up for Trident’s email-newsletter on their website to hear about upcoming events.
Between the tasty food, large book selection, and fun events, Trident Booksellers and Café is a place anyone of any age can go and enjoy. For directions and more information, check out their website at http://tridentbookscafe.com/.
