This past Monday, Idina Menzel announced her summer 2015 World Tour.
And fans were so excited they crashed her website.
The news is understandably exciting. Menzel is a versatile performer with stage, film, television, and music credits to her name. She has played Maureen Johnson in Rent, in both the Broadway and film versions, a role that earned her a Tony nomination. She later won the Tony for her breathtaking performance as Elphaba in hit Broadway musical, Wicked. Fans may also know her as Shelby Corcoran from Fox Series Glee or Nancy from the Disney movie Enchanted.
Last year, Menzel provided the voice for a Disney princess (well, queen) in the smash hit Frozen. In it, she sings the supremely catchy Oscar-winning song, “Let it Go.”
Since then, Menzel has been keeping busy. The theater legend currently stars as Elizabeth in the original Broadway play, If/Then. For this performance, she received another Tony nomination for Best Leading Actress in a Musical.
Not only is she an accomplished actress, but she continues to be active simply as a singer. Holiday Wishes, her recently released album of seasonal music, has reached Number 10 on the Billboard Hot 200. Menzel also sang some songs from the album at the Bloomingdale’s holiday window unveiling, and performed at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.
It’s almost like there’s nothing Idina Menzel can’t do. She has an amazing voice and a commanding stage presence and, with everything she’s doing, it looks like she just won’t be stopping any time soon. Concertgoers are sure to be in for a dynamic show on her summer tour.
Currently, only North American dates have been released. International tour dates will be announced soon.
Pre-sale for the tour begins on December 3rd with tickets opening up to the general public on December 5th.
