Some Saturday Night Live players are about to be asked “Who you gonna call?” everywhere they go. After months of speculation over the cast of the latest Ghostbusters film, director Paul Feig dropped a not-so-subtle hint at where the iconic comedy franchise is headed.
After Feig posted a wordless photo on his twitter account, it seems pretty safe to say that Feig is excited about filming with an all-female cast. If things go Feig’s way, then previous collaborators Melissa McCarthy and Kristen Wiig, along with current Saturday Night Live comedians Leslie Jones and Kate McKinnon, could be wielding their own Proton Packs in the near future.
For years now, a reboot to the Ghostbusters films has been in the works. Director Ivan Reitman and the original cast members were all ready to go, but essential player Bill Murray never shared the same enthusiasm. To make matters more unclear, one of the original writers and stars, Harold Ramis, passed away last February. After this unfortunate passing it didn’t seem right to pursue a new film starring the original crew.
With this latest cast however, the newest Ghostbusters team might be fighting off the supernatural sometime this summer in New York City.
