Three Reasons the Oscars 'Once Upon a Time' Spot Will Excite You For the Return

As with other ABC shows, Once Upon a Time got its moment in the spotlight with their Oscars television spot. Though it’s only thirty seconds, it does a lot to get us excited for next Sunday. Here are three reasons why you should be excited for the mid-season premiere of Once Upon a Time.

3. Merrin Dungey as Ursula

From King of Queens and Malcolm in the Middle, Merrin Dungey has been a part of some classic television shows. By joining Once Upon a Time as an actress of color as a character who so thoroughly owns her sexuality and evil, Dungey is paving the way for herself to potentially be a fan favorite of the season. Hopefully the writing for her character will be up to par and give her and Ursula the lines this villainess deserves!

2. The Villains Are Backed Into a Corner

Rumpelstiltskin is used to being two steps ahead of everyone, even when he wants them to think he’s two steps behind. After the end of the last mid-season, Rumple is backed into a corner so far that he has to turn to three other villains for help. It’s when we’re backed into a corner that we show the world what we’re truly made of. With a roster of Maleficent, Cruella, Ursula, and Rumple, we should be treated to an evil tirade of epic proportions.

3. Emma Potentially Turning Evil?

The major tease of the trailer is that these villains are going to try and corrupt the Savior. The potential story ideas—especially when the identity of the Sorcerer is still unknown—are endless. They’ve set themselves up for a rocking end of the season and hopefully they’ll be able to deliver the expectations they’ve set out to achieve.
