Things are continuing to shape up for the sequel to Ridley Scott’s seminal sci-fi work, Blade Runner.
In February, Denis Villeneuve of Prisoners and Enemy was announced to be taking over the director’s chair from Ridley Scott. Harrison Ford was also announced to return, and now, hot on the heels of The Haunted Mansion, Ryan Gosling has been said to be in negotiations for the Blade Runner sequel as well.
Details are scant at the moment. The press release featured nothing on Gosling’s character’s name or role in the story, but it was additionally announced that production would begin in the summer of 2016.
While one could argue about the necessity of a Blade Runner sequel, the line-up of top-tier talent at least ensures that great care is being taken for this project. Also, a mash-up of Harrison Ford and Ryan Gosling under the vision of the director of Prisoners and Enemy at least ensures a unique view of the future.
The untitled Blade Runner sequel has no set release date, but look for this one around 2017.
