Have Mercy! Full House fans can break out their “You Got it Dude” catchphrase and start singing the classic theme song because Netflix has officially ordered a 13-episode spin-off of the beloved ABC sitcom.
Full House ran for 8 seasons on ABC and followed Danny Tanner (Bob Saget) and his three daughters, D.J (Candace Cameron Bure), Stephanie (Jodie Sweetin) and Michelle (Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen). When Danny’s wife is killed in a car accident, he enlists his brother-in-law Jessie (John Stamos), a free-spirited aspiring rock musician, and his comedian best friend Joey (Dave Coulier). What ensues is a hilarious sitcom about love, loss and the importance of family.
The spin-off series, named Fuller House, will focus on original cast members Candace Cameron-Bure, Jodie Sweetin and Andrea Barber. The show will focus on the adventures of D.J Tanner-Fuller, who is pregnant with her third child and is recently widowed. She’s living in San Francisco again and similar to her father, she needs help raising her two boys, the rebellious J.D, 12, and the neurotic Max, 7. With a new baby on the way, D.J turns to her aspiring sister and musician Stephanie Tanner and her BFF and fellow single mom Kimmy Gibbler (Andrea Barber).
In a joint statement, executive producers Robert L. Boyett, Thomas L. Miller, and Jeff Franklin said: “The continued support of Full House fans of all ages for the last 28 years has been astounding. It is an honor and a thrill to catch up with these beloved characters and explore their lives today. The love you saw on the show was real. The cast has remained a loving family off screen all these years. We are as excited as our fans to finally bring Full House back to life.”
John Stamos announced on Jimmy Kimmel Live that he will act as producer and will occasionally guest star on the series, which is slated to debut in 2016.  Discussions with original cast members Bob Saget, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, Dave Coulier and Lori Loughlin are on going, but with a majority of the original team on board here’s hoping others will be slated to make guest appearances.
Fans everywhere can rejoice over this news and begin to anxiously await more casting news as Netflix begins production on Fuller House. Until then, dust off those box sets of Full House and break out your Jessie and The Rippers Tour t-shirt because Full House is back and fans cannot contain their excitement.
