Have you ever noticed that the Pokémon Mew, looks like Mewtwo!? Well then – you aren’t alone. They’re actually clones. That’s right, clones (Watch Mewtwo Strikes Back for the full story). So, now that we’re all on the same page let me introduce you to: Mewthree.
Just kidding, the mystery Pokémon’s name hasn’t officially been released yet. It is yet another leak from the highly anticipated next installments in the Pokémon series: Pokémon X and Pokémon Y, along with the “eeveelution” Slyvian, legendaries Xerneas and Yveltal, and the three starters, Chespin (Grass type), Fennekin (Fire type), and Froakie (Water type). Although the Pokémon Company hasn’t confirmed anything about the new Pokémon, it does hint at its familiarity to Mewtwo and has confirmed that the next Pokémon movie ExtremeSpeed Genesect: Mewtwo Awakens stars the iconic legendary Pokémon. As an added bonus, the sneak peak used the original Pokémon score from the Kanto league series. Coincidence? I think not.
Pokémon X and Y were announced in early January, and GAME FREAK director Junichi Masuda said “the stunning visuals, a completely redesigned environment, game scenario, music, and communication features will bring smiles to the faces of video game players around the world.” Who knows? This may just be the Pokémon game that fans of the originals have been waiting for.
Pokémon X and Y are scheduled for release October 2013.
