The San Francisco Bay Area is considered one of the largest hubs for rap music and has been the starting place for many prominent artists in the rap game. The latest rap sensation to come from The Bay is 24-year-old Sudan Ahmeer Williams, better known by his stage name Iamsu! (exclamation point included). The Richmond, CA-based rapper officially founded the rap/hip-hop collective HBK Gang—the acronym HBK stands for Heart Break Kids—in 2011 and has been rising to success as an artist and producer ever since. He gained recognition for his involvement on tracks that topped the Billboard and iTunes charts and has established himself as one of the most commercially successful young artists in rap. Over the course of this past year Iamsu! has released three mixtapes, headlined two tours, and worked on various projects with big name rappers such as E-40, Wiz Khalifa, and 2 Chainz. Iamsu! also just released his new single “Only That Real” (featuring 2 Chainz and fellow HBK rapper Sage the Gemini) from his debut album Sincerely Yours, which is set to drop in April.

Recently, Iamsu! teamed up with clothing company Pink Dolphin to create an exclusive collection. According to the info on the company’s website, “Pink Dolphin is a unique and ingenious clothing line embodying exclusivity. The founders’ vision was to create a clothing line where every piece was limited to keep from saturation on the streets.”
Iamsu! collaborated with Pink Dolphin’s Creative Director, Cena Barhagi, to design an 8-piece capsule collection that includes a long and short-sleeve tee, a zip-up hoodie with removable sleeves, jogger pants, shorts, a short-sleeve denim button down shirt, a camouflage/denim reversible bucket hat, and a camouflage five-panel hat.
In keeping with the company’s exclusivity, the collection was extremely limited and was only available at Pink Dolphin’s San Francisco location during an in-store release event. The event was held on Saturday, February 15 and featured an appearance and signing by HBK artists as well as freebies, including a commemorative Iamsu! mixtape titled “Camo EP.” The first 400 people at the event also received a wristband for a secret Iamsu! show held later that night. With all his accomplishments as a rapper, producer, and now fashion designer, it seems Iamsu! can do it all, and we can only expect his success to grow from here.
