Wally West Returns to DC Comics in The New 52
Gavin Gronenthal ’16 / Emertainment Monthly Staff Writer
After years of waiting, Flash fans can finally breathe a sigh of relief: Wally West is returning to the DC Universe in April. In what capacity has yet to be officially revealed, but in the preview cover for The Flash Annual #3, all signs point to a brand new costume.
West’s return is coupled with a creative team change for Flash, as writers Robert Venditti and Van Jensen take the helm with artists Brett Booth and Norm Rapmund. But how will West be incorporated into the series? Will he still be the nephew of Iris West, who has taken a backseat in the love life of Barry Allen, the current Flash? Or will he be something else entirely, perhaps an anomaly from another timeline? We’ll have to wait until April to find out.
Next year is gear to be a big year for the Flash, as Barry Allen is a star of the upcoming DC animated film Justice League: War, as well as a Flash series spinning off from Arrow.
With Wally’s return, things are really starting to look bright for the Flash’s future.
