The "300" Empire Will Rise Again

The sequel to the 2006 movie 300 has the potential to positively build upon the cult empire built by the original. 300: Rise of an Empire is set to open on March 7 of this year, and despite the stigma associated with sequels, fans of the first are sure to enjoy the second.
The movie features the same general aesthetic as its predecessor. It is narrated by Gorgo (Lena Headey), the widowed queen of Leonidas (the star of 300, played by Gerard Butler). The blood will still ooze and float in slow motion from the wounds of fallen warriors in fully saturated colors; however, this film is based in naval warfare, providing for a change in color scheme and battle sequences that will keep audiences interested. The film also provides background within the first fifteen minutes of the movie that could be considered a prequel to the first, which will change everything that viewers thought they understood.

Fans of the original, as well as people who have only seen parts of 300 on television, should be able to find enjoyment in witnessing the powerful performances of an ambitious naval captain (Eva Green), a not-so-in-charge Persian king (Rodrigo Santoro), and the fearless Greek general (Sullivan Stapleton) who seeks to defeat them both.
The best part is that movie-goers can see this movie in IMAX 3D, for which the extra cost is certainly worth the visual and visceral attraction. Just remember to never forget the three hundred and to prepare for war.
