Boston Indie Label Topshelf Records Announces First Official “Topshelf Tour”

Since 2006, Boston’s Topshelf Records has been a major player in the indie underground, and was one of the labels instrumental in returning authentic emo and post hardcore bands to the forefront of the indie and punk landscapes. Recently they’ve taken the concept even further, signing 90s emo juggernauts Braid and releasing their first album in sixteen years, No Coast, earlier this year. And with affiliates like Pianos Become the Teeth, Touché Amoré, Tigers Jaw, and Defeater, their status as a indie rock safe house has long been cemented.
Now it seems they’re expanding their reach even farther, as they recently announced their first-ever label-exclusive “Topshelf Tour,” featuring four of the label’s current heaviest hitters, most of whom have released or will be releasing new records this year.
Covering a quick run of the East Coast from September 16 to October 3, the tour features Brooklyn, NY’s A Great Big Pile of Leaves; Ridgewood, NJ’s Prawn; Brooklyn, NY, and Philadelphia, PA’s Field Mouse; and Baltimore, MD’s Diamond Youth.
In addition to the tour, Topshelf is also teaming up with A to Z Media to release a Topshelf Tour 7” containing tracks from all four bands, and the first 50 tickets sold to each tour date get their choice of either of the tour exclusive 7”, T-shirt, or vinyl slip mat. Check out the official flyer and link to purchasing tickets for all dates here.
