Mother Monster indeed. A few days after slaying a Sound of Music tribute at the Oscars, Lady Gaga announced she’ll be starring in American Horror Story’s next season.
The singer revealed the news of her role in addition to the season’s Hotel theme in a very Gaga-esque teaser she tweeted on Wednesday morning.
“American Horror Story. Season five. Hotel,” she says in it after tearing off an elaborate mask.

Gaga’s casting provoked lots of excitement from her fans, but is also sure to prompt loads of questions from dedicated AHS viewers. Who will she play? Will there be more singing? Will this impact the beloved Jessica Lange’s decision as to whether she will leave the show? And, most importantly, can Lady Gaga act?
We won’t know any of these answers until the season premieres in October. However, most of us here at Emertainment Monthly believe Gaga will deliver in some form. She is known for being unapologetically dedicated to any art form she takes on, so we’re hoping she’ll give no less of herself to Hotel than she does to any of her other endeavors. But for now, we’ll just have to let the anticipation linger.
