Boston Calling Returning to City Hall Plaza
Tessa Roy ’16 and David Weiner ’17 / Emertainment Monthly Assistant Editor and Staff Writer
Boston has continuously served as a launching pad for emerging artists, often acting as the first major step in the direction toward a successful music career. Numerous venues such as The Sinclair, House of Blues, Brighton Music Hall and Paradise Rock Club ensure there is always somewhere to go to listen to live music. With the emergence of Boston Calling back in 2013, Boston has made it very clear that it’s on its way to becoming a major music city.
This year’s lineup seems to fit perfectly into the Boston aesthetic. It features massive headliners, like Pixies, Gerard Way, and recent Grammy winners St. Vincent and Beck, gracing the Government Center stages this year. But in typical Boston fashion, the lineup will include many hungry newcomers like Tove Lo, DMA’s, and Vance Joy who are ready to take advantage of this historic city’s welcoming crowds.
We here at Emertainment Monthly have put together a preview playlist featuring both veteran and freshman artists coming to this year’s festival.
