Fans of the Nickelodeon television shows Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra can finally rejoice with the news that Dark Horse Comics has officially announced the artist for the return and continuation of Avatar Korra’s story in an all-new comic series, helmed by the series’ co-creator Michael Dante DiMartino. The story will stay within the universe’s canon, following the conclusion of the hit show, The Legend of Korra.
During today’s slew of announcements from Dark Horse Comics at New York Comic Con, the publication company revealed that artist Brittney Williams will be joining the team to bring to life the continued story of Korra. William’s looks to bring a new look to Korra, while staying true to the universe’s aesthetic and tone. While Avatar’s other co-creator Bryan Konietzko will provide support and inspiration for Williams, her translation of the characters and world–being respectful to the source material–will bring a new look and style to our favorite characters.
The news of Dark Horse bringing us a Korra comic book series that is unlike anything we have seen before is very exciting. While the television series ended on a high note, there has been contention within the fan community that The Legend of Korra had a very bumpy production. It is nice to know that Nickelodeon has not given up on the Avatar universe and that there is hopefully much more to be explored within the world and *hopefully* future and/or past avatars!
