One of Dreamwork’s most successful franchises is now making it’s way to ink and paper. At New York Comic Con, this past Friday, Dreamworks and Dark Horse announced their new collaborative series: How to Train Your Dragon: The Serpent’s Heir. Not only will it delve into the new responsibilities thrust upon the main duo at the conclusion of the second film, but work on expanding the world presented in the television show; Riders of Berk.
Despite being published by Dark Horse, the series will mostly be handled by the original How to Train Your Dragon staff. Dean DeBlois, one of the original writers and director of the films, will be teaming up with Richard Hamilton, writer of Dragons: Race to the Edge, as writers for the series. Production designer Pierre-Olivier Vincent, has also come on board as a cover artists. Other artists and staff have yet to be named.
“I am excited to be writing this next chapter in the ‘How to Train Your Dragon’ universe,” said DeBlois. “Dark Horse is a perfect home for these new original stories and Richard and I are thrilled to know they will be in the hands of our incredible fans very soon.”
