As fall TV season kicks off many Broadway actors will find themselves on the small screen. From superheroes to CIA recruits, stage actors are dominating this TV season. Whether they are a series regular or a soon-to-be beloved guest star, it’s time to look out for your favorite stage stars on TV.
Emertainment Monthly executive stage editor, Nora Dominick, breaks down all the Broadway stars you need to keep an eye on during this TV season.

10. Kelli O’Hara, Masters of Sex

She’s beloved by the Broadway community and now she’s going to be changing things up on Showtime’s Masters of Sex. According to TV Line, Kelli O’Hara is set to play Dody, a long-lost love of Dr. William Masters (Michael Sheen). O’Hara recently turned heads on Broadway in her Tony Award winning role of Anna Leonowens in The King and I.

9. Josh Segarra, Arrow

Recently seen in the hit Broadway musical On Your Feet! As Emilio Estefan, Josh Segarra is trading his dancing shoes for a superhero mask this coming TV season. He will be joining the hit The CW show Arrow as Adrian Chase, Star City’s new district attorney and an ally of Mayor Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell), who aims to clean up the streets through the legal system. Segarra was also seen on TV last season in the hit NBC show, Chicago P.D.

8. Russell Tovey, Quantico

After starring in the critically acclaimed A View From The Bridge on Broadway last season, Russell Tovey returns to TV. Tovey takes on the role of Harry Doyle, a recruit for the CIA alongside Alex (Priyanka Chopra). This marks Tovey’s first TV role after HBO’s Looking ended earlier this summer.

7. Kristin Chenoweth, American Gods

Although the show won’t be coming to Starz until midseason, Kristin Chenoweth on American Gods is something you can’t miss. Chenoweth will be playing Easter, one of the old gods who tries to help Shadow Moon (Ricky Whittle). The big announcement was made at SDCC 2016 and fans cannot wait. The project also marks a Pushing Daisies reunion between Chenoweth and producer Bryan Fuller. She can be seen on Broadway this season in her limited engagement of My Love Letter to Broadway. 

6. Daveed Diggs, black-ish

He’s one of the biggest Broadway stars right now and now he’s turning heads on ABC’s black-ish. Daveed Diggs joins the hit comedy as Rainbow Johnson’s (Tracee Ellis Ross) brother, Johan. Of course, Diggs is best known for his 2016 Tony Award winning turn as Lafayette/Thomas Jefferson in Hamilton.

5. Conrad Ricamora, How to Get Away with Murder

He’s been turning heads since season one of How to Get Away with Murder, but now Conrad Ricamora has stepped into a bigger role. Now in its third season, Ricamora is now a series regular as Oliver. His work alongside Jack Falahee has gone above and beyond expectations. With his new series regular status, who knows what storylines will come around. Ricamora was recently seen on Broadway in the Tony Award winning production of The King and I.

4. Lin-Manuel Miranda, Saturday Night Live

Probably the most anticipated night on TV this fall, Lin-Manuel Miranda will be hosting Saturday Night Live on October 8th. Miranda has taken the entertainment world by storm this year with his hit musical Hamilton. He took home the 2016 Tony Award for Best Music and Lyrics and Best Book. Hamilton also won the Tony Award for Best Musical. This will be Miranda’s first time hosting SNL.

3. Jeremy Jordan, Supergirl

It’s a bird, it’s a plane, it’s Jeremy Jordan. The two time Tony Award nominee continues to play the lovable, dorky Winn on The CW’s Supergirl. Last season, Winn was introduced to fans as the tech genius on Supergirl’s (Melissa Benoist) team. From helping Kara learn more about herself to working on his own family issues, Winn is a strong character in her universe. Jordan is best known for his work in Newsies and Bonnie & Clyde on Broadway. He recently reunited with his Newsies cast members for a special taping of the musical.

2. Santino Fontana, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend

The breakout comedy of last TV season, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend brought equal parts comedy and music to The CW. Santino Fontana, alongside Rachel Bloom, helps bring musicals to TV in this hilarious, self-aware comedy. From his Fred Astaire dance moves to Greg’s “down on his luck” musical numbers, Fontana is nailing it on Crazy-Ex. Fontana is best known for his Tony Award nominated work in Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella.

1. Sutton Foster, Younger

Deemed the new Sex and the City, Younger has changed the face of TVLand. Now on its third season, Sutton Foster leads an all-star cast as Liza, a 40 year old single mother who pretends to be a 26 year old in order to land a job in the publishing world. Her work on the show goes above and beyond expectations and she struts around NYC in her amazing outfits. Foster is best known for her Tony Award winning roles in Thoroughly Modern Millie and Anything Goes. If you aren’t watching Younger, it’s time to start!
