The Game Awards Are Coming This Thursday

The third annual gaming award show The Game Awards will be livestreaming from the Microsoft Theater in L.A. this Thursday, with coverage starting at 8:30 PM ET / 5:30 PM PT. The show will be hosted by its producer Geoff Keighley, and will feature a musical performances, brand new footage from upcoming games, and of course awards.
This year’s musical stylings will feature hip-hip group Run the Jewels as well as a live performance of the DOOM soundtrack, led by its composer Mick Gordon.
As for game footage, the currently announced line-up will feature Prey and Mass Effect Andromeda, as well as The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Rocket League which were seen at last year’s show.
The awards and nominees were announced via video and are available on the show’s website, with nominees for game of the year being DOOM, Inside, Overwatch, Titanfall 2, and Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, and the award for eSports Play of the Year to be presented by Olympian Michael Phelps. In addition Hideo Kojima will be receiving an Industry Icon award after famously being denied the ability to attend last year’s show by his then-employer Konami.
