Fans of Firefly are getting the reunion we’ve always wanted! Well, almost. The entire cast of Firefly will be reuniting to voice a new game based on the series.
Firefly Online, a strategy based RPG created by Spark Plug Games and Quantum Mechanix Inc. was announced by the developers at this past weekend’s San Diego Comic-Con 2014. At the time of the announcement Nathan Fillion (Captain Malcolm Reynolds), Alan Tudyk (Wash), Adam Baldwin (Jayne Cobb), Sean Maher (Dr. Simon Tam), and Ron Glass (Shepherd Book)’s parts were recorded and that Jewel Staite (Kaylee Frye), Gina Torres (Zoë Washburne), and Summer Glau (River Tam) have yet to record their parts (This was announced via the official Facebook page for the game).
Players will be cast as the captain of a ship and recruit people from the show and universe to be the crew. The game, originally announced for iOS and Android, will also be released for Mac and PC via the digital game store Steam and will debut in the Spring of 2015.
“If there is a downside to all this shiny is we have A LOT more work to do. There are many hours’ worth of new material we’re adding to the game, about 20 actors we need to turn into 3-D models and literally dozens of new scenes that must be blocked and animated.” developers said
