Bond, James Bond. From Sean Connery all the way to Daniel Craig, the legacy of the MI6 operative lives on in the new installment of the franchise, Skyfall. From an eclectic mix of Bond portrayals, beautiful scenery, and new evil villains, these are my top 5 best Bond films:

With such a bizarre plot, this film starts the list of the best of Bond. After a night with the head of a secret societies’ daughter, Bond continues his romance as he heads to Switzerland to uncover the secrets behind an allergy-research institute that causes women to be brainwashed. This Bond film is out there and I love it!

Having been introduced to SPECTRE (Special Executive for Counter-intelligence, Terrorism, Revenge, and Extortion) in the first Bond film, the plot continues into the second. Bond attempts to retrieve a device taken by SPECTRE while keeping up with a Russian beauty and watching out for his own life after it is threatened as a result of killing Dr. No. Sean Connery stars in this film, along with many others, and does a great job portraying James Bond.

The film that started it all. Sean Connery introduces James Bond to the world in this classic original. Bond’s first mission is to investigate the disappearance of John Strangways, a colleague involved with the CIA. With intrigue and, of course, action, this Bond film set up what Bond is known to be today.

Who does not love gold? Led by the always-charming Sean Connery as James Bond, Goldfinger is intense and unpredictable. A man that goes by the name of Auric Goldfinger, plots to destroy gold located in Fort Knox so as to increase the value of his own gold. This film is captivating and the villain is unique from any other, painting women gold as to suffocate and kill them (gold fetish?). Goldfinger does not hold back when killing off Bond’s love interests as well as other notable characters. Goldfinger remains a classic.

I am a little bias when it comes to my favorite Bond films because Daniel Craig is by far my favorite James Bond. He is sophisticated and mysterious, the ideal characteristics that I think of when I think James Bond. Casino Royale also has everything you would expect in a Bond film, but takes it all to a new level. With beautiful women, amazing scenery, action, and a plot that keeps you guessing, this film by far exceeds the expectations past Bond films set.
