Trailer Analysis: “Horrible Bosses 2”

Charlie Day, Jason Sudeikis and Jason Bateman are back in the second installment of their comedy smash hit, Horrible Bosses 2. If you were a fan of the original, this trailer will make all your funny bones shake with excitement. It looks hilarious.
The original movie was $35 million and brought in about $200 million so the sequel got a larger budget for even more big names to be added to the cast. Chris Pine and Christoph Waltz join the already star studded ensemble but don’t worry, Kevin Spacey is back as Nick’s, now imprisoned, horrible boss, Harken. Jennifer Aniston also reprises her role as the sex crazed dental hygienist, Julia.
This time around the guys are trying to “perpetrate a kidnapping” as Jamie Foxx’s character, Motherf*cker Jones so dramatically puts it in his narration of the trailer. They have already taken care of their bosses but this time around they are visiting Harken in jail and Julia at the dentist so it seems they need their advice on how to be horrible and pull this kidnapping off.
The trailer is only a minute and forty seconds in length but you will be laughing the entire time. The characters look exactly the same and they use the familiar sets, which makes me think they will stay true to the original. They play off the jokes from the first movie but even if you haven’t seen it, you will be laughing because these guys just work so well together.
Charlie Day and Jason Sudeikis’s characters are still the outrageous buddies with Bateman’s more toned down, logical Nick feeding the sarcastic replies to their ridiculous antics. Example: the slow-mo walk out of the bar that’s ruined by the guy walking in real time.
The gorgeous Chris Pine seems like Colin Farrell’s character from the first film but more beautiful and I can only assume more crazy. He is partying it up, laughing maniacally and later wielding a gun, pointed at the hostage (Waltz). This movie doesn’t come out until the fall so this teaser trailer is exactly that, a tease. November needs to hurry up because this looks like it could be the best comedy of the year.
