Ten TV Shows to Catch Up on Before Comic Con 2016

By this time next week, San Diego Comic Con 2016 will be in full swing. Each year the international convention gets bigger and bigger with more fans flooding into San Diego for this week of total fandom domination. From hit TV shows, to upcoming films and recently released comic books, there is something for everyone at Comic Con 2016.
With more TV shows, comic books and films joining the festivities than ever before, Emertainment Monthly has decided to round up the top ten TV shows to catch up on before comic con 2016.

10. Colony

Flying under the radar on the USA Network, Colony is a great show to binge-watch this weekend leading up to Comic Con. Set in the very near future, Colony centers on one family’s struggle to survive and bring liberty back to the people of an occupied Los Angeles. Josh Holloway (Lost) stars as FBI agent Will Bowman and Sarah Wayne Callies (The Walking Dead & Prison Break) stars as his wife, Katie, in the series which takes place in a dangerous world of divided ideologies.
While some choose to collaborate with the occupation and benefit from the new order, others rebel and suffer the consequences.  After being separated from their son during the invasion, Will and Katie are willing to do whatever is necessary to be reunited with him.  Thus, when the powerful Proxy Snyder (Peter Jacobson) offers Will a chance to get his son back if he will collaborate with the occupational government, Will and Katie find themselves faced with the toughest decision of their lives.
With only ten episodes in its first season, Colony is a great show to catch up on, especially if you are fan of Holloway and Callies. Colony appeared at Comic Con 2015 and they are back for more ahead of season two. Be sure to check out Colony at Comic Con 2016 next week!

9. iZombie

A hidden gem on The CW, iZombie has gained a fan following and continues to deliver great episodes season after season. Almost in its third season, iZombie delivered a phenomenal season two finale and now it’s hungry for more.
Seattle medical resident Liv Moore (Rose McIver) is turned into a zombie while attending a boat party. To cope with her new appetite for brains, Liv takes a job at the King County morgue and shares her secret with her boss, Dr. Ravi Chakrabarti (Rahul Kohli). In order for Liv to survive, Ravi encourages her to eat the brains of murder victims whose bodies are delivered to the morgue.
Whenever she eats a victim’s brain, Liv temporarily inherits some of their personality traits. She also experiences flashbacks which often give her clues about the murder. Liv uses this new ability to help the Seattle Police Department solve crimes, passing herself off as a psychic consultant, while Ravi works to develop a cure for Liv’s affliction in hopes that one day she will resume her former life.

8. Blindspot

A breakout hit in its first season, Blindspot is the highlight of NBC’s drama lineup. The show premiered earlier this year and quickly became fan-favorite this past season.
A beautiful woman (Jaimie Alexander), with no memories of her past, is found naked in Times Square with her body fully covered in intricate tattoos. Her discovery sets off a vast and complex mystery that immediately ignites the attention of the FBI, which begins to follow the road map on her body into a larger conspiracy of crime, while bringing her closer to discovering the truth about her identity.
Blindspot attended Comic Con last year to promote the release of the show and now it’s back for Comic Con 2016. With only one season under its belt, Blindspot is a show to catch up right now!

7. Fear the Walking Dead

A hit follow up to The Walking Dead, Fear the Walking Dead offers a unique perspective on the early days of the zombie apocalypse before Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) wakes up.
In its second season, Fear the Walking Dead returns at sea, aboard the Abigail. The group is unaware of the true breadth of the apocalypse; they assume there still a chance that some city, state, or nation might be unaffected, some place where Infection has not hit. Abandoning land, Madison (Kim Dickens), Travis (Cliff Curtis) and Daniel (Ruben Bladés) gather their grieving families for ports unknown. But the respite of Strand’s (Colman Domingo) ocean-side home is short-lived. They will discover that the water may be no safer than land.
At Comic Con 2015, Fear the Walking Dead attended promoting its first season and unleashing a first-look trailer. The hit show will return to Comic Con 2016 with more info on the back half of season two and much more!

6. The 100

The cult-favorite series The 100 will touch down at Comic Con 2016 next week following a somewhat rocky third season.
The 100 picks up when a spaceship housing humanity’s lone survivors sends 100 juvenile delinquents back to Earth in hopes of possibly re-populating the planet. This past season dealt with the ramifications of Jaha (Isaiah Washington) finding the City of Light and A.L.I.E (Erica Cerra) trying to take over. This past season was met with mixed criticism, especially following the deaths of fan favorite characters Lexa (Alycia Debnam-Carey) and Lincoln (Ricky Whittle). With what seems like a re-energized season four, The 100 is a good show to binge watch if not for the character, but to join in on the conversation.
The 100 will once again deliver a panel at Comic Con and hopefully provide some insight into season four!

5. Supernatural

It’s the show that keeps on going. The cult-classic, fan favorite TV show Supernatural is always a must-see panel at Comic Con.
Now entering its record breaking 12th season, Supernatural follows The Winchester Brothers, Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles), who follow in their father’s footsteps as “hunters” fighting evil supernatural beings. Over eleven seasons, Supernatural has garnered a devoted and loyal fanbase. Although twelve seasons seems like a beast, the show has becomes a staple on TV and it’s great to have at least a few seasons or episodes under your belt.
Supernatural is continuously a highlight of Comic Con year after year and the show and stars are back for more fun this year! You don’t want to miss it!

4. Teen Wolf

Teen Wolf revolves around Scott McCall (Tyler Posey), a high school student living in the town of Beacon Hills. Scott’s life drastically changes when he is bitten by a werewolf the night before sophomore year, becoming one himself. He must henceforth learn to balance his problematic new identity with his day-to-day teenage life. Alongside his best friend, Stiles (Dylan O’Brien), they encounter characters who shape Scott into a stronger werewolf and better person.
Teen Wolf has evolved tremendously since debuting in 2011 and continues to be a fan favorite. With an ever growing fan base, Teen Wolf is a great fandom to be part of. Year after year, Teen Wolf nails it at Comic Con and the cast is back for more shenanigans at Comic Con 2016.

3. The Walking Dead

The Walking Dead is one of the most watched TV shows currently airing. The mid-season finale of season 6 drew in nearly 15 million viewers as more people get infected by this drama.
This past season, the stakes for Rick, Michonne (Danai Gurira), Daryl (Norman Reedus), Glenn (Steven Yeun), Maggie (Lauren Cohan) and the whole gang were elevated to new heights. Following finding solace in Alexandria, not all is safe within the walls. With a larger threat, the formidable and deadly Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) looming large outside, Rick and the gang must find a way to fit into this new world. More than ever survivors are a great threat than the slow moving walkers and it’s never been more apparent than in this season.
Following a heart pounding, buzzed about season six finale, The Walking Dead’s presence at Comic Con will be bigger than ever before. It’s time to jump on this show because it’s full steam ahead leading into season 7.

2. Mr. Robot

It’s the critically acclaimed drama you do not want to miss out on. Mr. Robot is a must watch ahead of Comic Con. With season two just beginning, this is the perfect time to hop on this crazy, mind boggling train.
Mr. Robot follows Elliot (Rami Malek), a young programmer who works as a cyber-security engineer by day and as a vigilante hacker by night.  Elliot finds himself at a crossroads when the mysterious leader (Christian Slater) of an underground hacker group recruits him to destroy the firm he is paid to protect.  Compelled by his personal beliefs, Elliot struggles to resist the chance to take down the multinational CEOs he believes are running (and ruining) the world.
Mr. Robot will make its San Diego Comic Con debut this year following scoring a number of 2016 Emmy Award nominations. It’s time to join the revolution and check this out!

1. Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl and Legends of Tomorrow

Yes technically this is four shows, but at this point all of them go hand-in-hand. Following WBTV announcing bringing a record breaking number of TV shows to Comic Con 2016, it’s no surprise Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl and Legends of Tomorrow are a must watch!
Whether you watch one or all four, superhero TV is dominating our current fan culture and these four are on the top of the list. From watching Oliver Queen/Green Arrow (Stephen Amell) duke it out in the streets of Star City, to Barry Allen/The Flash (Grant Gustin) capturing meta-humans in Central City, to the elite team of heroes on Legends of Tomorrow, to Kara Danvers/Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) fighting crime in National City, these four shows are must sees.
Arrow will be returning to Comic Con for its fourth consecutive year, The Flash for its third and Legends of Tomorrow and Supergirl for their second. With panels scheduled for each, these shows are the hot tickets at Comic Con 2016.
