Vince Vaughn Delivers Laughs in Heartwarming Comedy The Delivery Man

With Thanksgiving fast approaching, people are looking for the best holiday movie to sink their teeth into after devouring the turkey on the table.  The Delivery Man should be on the top of everybody’s list because it serves up family-focused fun with a healthy dose of comedy sprinkled on top.
The movie follows the life of David Wozniak (Vince Vaughn), an ordinary man living in Brooklyn who drives a delivery truck for a butchery owned by his family. Dave is just a regular-Joe with unreliable nature that leads to a breakup from his girlfriend Emma (Cobie Smulders). Dave’s life takes an interesting turn when he finds out that he has fathered 533 children through an anonymous donation to a fertility clinic 20 years prior.

He approaches his friend Brett (Chris Pratt), a lawyer, to make sense of the legal complications that ensue. Brett tells him that he should plead insanity and avoid meeting any of the 533 children. David chooses to do the exact opposite and starts reaching out to all 533 of his kids, helping them in small ways while remaining anonymous.
What’s really captivating about The Delivery Man is how it balances the comedy with the drama. Vince Vaughn’s acting draws the audience in right from the start, blending his skilled physical humor with a range of great facial expressions. Throughout the heavier scenes, he doesn’t over-act but instead displays a rollercoaster of emotions through his performance. Chris Pratt adds the funny by bringing the audience to hysterics with his deadpan delivery.

The film was generally well paced without any dragged-out scenes thrown in to fill up the runtime. Additionally, the writing incorporated an even blend of comedy and drama while exploring the emotional struggles of the main character.
Perhaps the most interesting aspect of this movie is its message regarding the value of family and how it plays into people’s lives. It also touches on ethical values such as a child’s right to information about their biological parents. The movie is successful because it hits on these heavy subjects in a comedic environment, making its messages easier to digest.
The Delivery Man is a funny and heart-warming Thanksgiving treat that everyone should look out for when it hits theaters on November 22^nd.
